Dhakir is a six-year-old boy from Tanzania, and is the last born in his family. Dhakir goes to kindergarten and he says he loves being with other kids.
Dhakir has enlarged tonsils and adenoids. After noticing his difficulty breathing, Dhakir’s parents travelled 300 km to bring him to the hospital. Upon review, doctors recommended he gets a tonsillectomy. If left untreated, Dhakir will continue to have difficulty when breathing, which negatively affects his health and education.
For $545, Dhakir will undergo tosillectomy surgery. After the procedure is performed, Dhakir will regain his ability to eat and breathe normally.
Dhakir’s father says ‘‘I want my son to be well after surgery so he continues with school.’’

Dhakir successfully received a tosillectomy.
Dhakir’s is doing great and his surgery was a success! He will be much healthier now that he has had surgery to remove his adenoids and tonsils. His mother shares that she already senses a difference in how he sleeps at night, and how happy he is playing with his peers.
“For the first time since birth, I have noticed improvements in his breathing,” shares Dhakir’s mother. “Thank you.”
