Joyline is a 14-year-old student at a primary school in Kenya, where she lives with her parents and two younger siblings. Her parents are small-scale farmers who plant potatoes and beans, mainly for home consumption, with some sold for an income. They live in a home without electricity, using firewood as their source of heat, while getting their water from a nearby river. Joyline reported that she started feeling pain in her leg in November of last year. Her parents brought her to two different facilities, where the only treatment provided was pain medication. Walking has become difficult to the point she had to stop going to school and is unable to walk on her own. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, can help. On May 9th, Joyline will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation, at AIC Kapsowar Hospital. The treatment will repair her fractured femur, and enable her to live a pain-free life. Now, African Mission Healthcare Foundation is requesting $1,145 to fund this procedure. Joyline says: "I feel so much pain, and the worst of it all is that I cannot walk. I am so uncomfortable when I see my mother helping me do things that I could do on my own. Kindly help me so that I may be able to go back to school and study well, as this is my final year in primary school."

Cherop is an 80-year-old married man with five children who are grown up and married. He lives in a semi-arid area where millet, sorghum, and cassava are planted as food and cash crops. He lives with his wife and a grandson who assists them with farm work. About a year ago, Cherop began to experience abdominal pain that was of gradual onset associated with irregular abdominal swelling, especially after taking meals. He initially thought the condition would better with time, this he did not visit any health facilities. However, as the pain persisted, he began to experience nausea and vomiting, preventing him from consuming solid foods. As a result, he has begun to lose weight and strength, impacting his physical and emotional health. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, has scheduled Cherop for a double hernia repair surgery on February 3rd. With the surgery, hopefully, Cherop will return to a life free of pain. Cherop and his family need help raising $737 to fund his procedure and care. Cherops’ grandson says, “My grandfather has been suffering for some time now. Sometimes we eat well and after a while, he feels pain and vomits a lot. Food has not been helping him of late. Kindly help him so that he may become healthy and happy as before.”

Florah is a 45-year-old mother of three from the Rukingiri district in southwestern Uganda. Her eldest son is awaiting to join college, while the youngest is in primary 6. Both she and her husband are small-scale farmers who grow food crops for home consumption but often sell the surplus to generate an income. In her free time, she enjoys listening to the radio. For two years, Florah has been experiencing vaginal bleeding, backache, and lower abdominal pain with unpleasant discharge which is worsening. She has been diagnosed with multiple uterine myomas and premalignant cervical lesions and is unable to raise funds for her treatment. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Florah's surgery. On February 28th, she will undergo a hysterectomy at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Florah will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Florah says “I am really in deep pain, I don’t have the money needed for my surgery and kindly, I request for your support to make my surgery possible.”
