Saw Lay resides in a school dormitory in a refugee camp along the Thai-Burma border. He used to study at the school but stopped in July 2023 when his condition worsened. During his free time, Saw Lay enjoys hunting, foraging for vegetables in the forest, and listening to music and stories on his phone. In May 2021, while in Burma for his studies, Saw Lay was driving to the market on his motorcycle when he was hit by a car, resulting in a broken left femur. Saw Lay underwent internal fixation surgery to address this issue. However, since September 2022, he has been experiencing pain in his left leg, accompanied by difficulty sleeping and depression. He cannot bear weight on that leg and has to use crutches to get around. If he sits for an extended period, he will experience back pain. Upon medical evaluation, a doctor diagnosed him with a non-union left femur shaft fracture. He will undergo surgery on November 7th to not only alleviate his pain and discomfort but also improve his overall quality of life. Saw Lay said, "I am happy that I can finally receive the surgery I need with the help of the donors and the Burma Children's Medical Fund. Thank you for having mercy on me. Without your help, I wouldn't be able to afford it. Thank you so much for your kind support, and I will never forget it."

Dalin is a 35-year-old mother of two from Cambodia. She works in a clothing factory and lives with her husband. Her husband works as a security guard at the same factory. They have one son and one daughter who are both students. In her free time, Dalin likes to listen to music on her phone or help her children with homework. Two weeks ago, Dalin developed a chalazion, or inflamed cyst in the tear gland, in her right eye that causes her itchiness, irritation, and pain. It is difficult for her to see clearly. Dalin is afraid that she might injure her hands at work because of her poor vision. Dalin traveled for four hours to seek treatment from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). On July 6th, surgeons at CSC's care center will remove the cyst through a chalazion excision procedure. After recovery, Dalin's symptoms should improve. She now needs help raising $210 to fund this procedure. Dalin shared, "I hope after surgery my eyelid will stop swelling, itchiness, and pain. I need to go to work well."

Horm is a 66-year-old rice farmer from Kandal province. He is married and has one daughter, four sons, and three grandchildren. His wife sells coffee in front of their home with his youngest daughter, who also is a clothes garment worker. At home, Horm enjoys listening to the monks pray and the news on the radio. Three years ago, Horm developed a cataract in his right eye. This can make it difficult to see any small details clearly. He is unable to work out in the field and feels bad because it is his responsibility as the head of his family. When Horm learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 16th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Horm shared: "I hope after surgery I can see better and feel happy. I hope to return to growing rice well and seeing the faces of my children and grandchildren."
