Lopiro is a 15-year-old boy from Tanzania. His father is a livestock keeper who has two wives, which is common in their culture, and six children. Due to their remote location, Lopiro has been unable to attend school. He has been living with thoracic kyphoscoliosis and bilateral genu valgus for the past five years, which has severely impacted his mobility and prevented him from participating in community activities. Bilateral genu valgus means that his legs bow inwards. This condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. As a result, It is difficult for him to walk long distances and experiences considerable discomfort due to the abnormal gait he has developed. Our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH) is requesting $880 to fund corrective surgery scheduled on June 27th. Treatment will hopefully restore Lopiro's mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications. Lopiro says, "My legs have been causing me a lot of pain when I try to help at home. I hope this treatment will reduce the discomfort I feel when I walk."

Doreen is a 24-year-old lady who is expecting a baby. She finished primary six but could not secure funds for further studies, leading to her leave school. She was left with no option other than pursuing housemaid work in Kabale town. After about a year, she returned home and eventually got married. Her husband is a small businessman with a retail shop, though not earning much, while Doreen remains at home cultivating for food consumption. She is the third born in a family of eight children; two are married and self-employed, and the rest are in primary and secondary school. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She delivered her first baby in 2022 via C-section, but unfortunately, the baby died three days after birth. She reports having had two miscarriages consecutively. During this pregnancy, she has been attending the antenatal clinics and hopes to deliver a healthy baby. Doreen likes to remain happy despite her financial crisis. She appeals for your support to ensure her pregnancy is delivered well and that she has a live and healthy baby, as this child is precious to her and will bring comfort to her life. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section so doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Doreen undergo a C-Section on December 5th. This procedure will cost $252, and Doreen needs your support. Doreen says, “I wish as well to be called a mother since my mind has been traumatized by my past experience. I hope to deliver a live and healthy baby this time and I will be very happy to get your support.”

Enzo is a four-month-old baby in Haiti. He lives with his mother, father and older brother. Enzo has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid--the fluid which surrounds the brain--accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. This accumulation of fluid has caused Enzo's head to expand beyond a healthy range. Without treatment, Enzo will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, can help Enzo. The surgeons plan to use an endoscope to drain the excess fluid and relieve the pressure on Enzo's brain. This critical treatment will greatly improve Enzo's quality of life. Surgery is scheduled for November 9 at Hospital Bernard Mevs, the only site in Haiti where this care is available. With proper treatment, Enzo will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young boy. Project Medishare is requesting $897 to cover the cost of surgery for Enzo. The family is hoping that this surgery with allow Enzo to live a healthy life.
