Provia is a 52-year-old mother of three. She went to primary school but eventually had to drop out due to the cost of tuition, but now owns and runs her own retail shop to meet her family’s needs. Her children are all grown now with careers of their own, but her youngest child is currently pursuing a degree in nursing at the local University and Provia is trying to assist her with tuition. Since 2021, Provia has been experiencing severe backaches and abdominal pain. When the pains persisted, she visited a doctor's office and was given medication. This helped her for a while, however, in January and February of this year, she started experiencing more severe lower abdominal pains and other worrying symptoms. The abdominal pains have become so severe and unbearable that she is often forced to stay in bed and is unable to run her small shop. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), was able to diagnose Provia with Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease with endometritis. AMH determined that she needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which the surgeons at AMH will remove her uterus. The surgery is currently scheduled for April 14th. AMH is requesting $319 to fund Provia's surgery. Once recovered, Provia will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Provia says, “I pray that I may have a successful surgery. I believe I will have another chance to live a normal life again after surgery and be able to continue running my and supporting my family.”

Luana is the only child of her mother and father. Her mother is a college student hoping to become a doctor, and her father is a market vendor. They live in the Amazon basin of northeastern Bolivia. Luana was born with a condition called ventricular septal defect, in which a hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart; blood leaks through this hole without passing through her lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving her weak and short of breath. Luana also has Down syndrome. Our partner International Cardiac Alliance is requesting $1,500 to fund cardiac surgery which will help her to grow up healthy and active. Luana's mother shares, "We are so grateful that the hospital selected our daughter to have surgery, and we are praying everything will go well!"

Meet Pisey, a 35-year-old woman who is happily married and has a son currently studying in the sixth grade. Both she and her husband are dedicated construction workers, spending long hours working under the sun. Apart from her work, Pisey finds joy in preparing delicious meals for her beloved family at home. For several years, Pisey has had nasal congestion; this has resulted in chronic headaches, pain, fatigue, and frequent infections. She visited the local provincial hospital, where she was given medication, but it has not improved. Her family is financially burdened when she cannot work due to her illness, and she is not paid when she does not work. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. Surgeons have diagnosed Pisey with a deviated septum that is blocking her nose and affecting airflow. A deviated septum occurs when the septum bends enough in one direction to become crooked. This can make breathing difficult. On July 18th, surgeons at CSC will perform a septoplasty to relieve her pain and help her live and work comfortably again. Now, she needs your help raising $333 to fund this treatment. The cost will cover hospitalization, medications, supplies, and post-operative care. Pisey said:"I hope to breathe better and sleep well after surgery. I want to care for my son and work so he will stay in school."
