Christian is a 24-year-old from the Philippines. He discontinued his studies to help his family with their finances. Currently, they depend on Christian, as well as his brother and his father, who both work in construction. Since birth, Christian has dealt with indirect inguinal hernia. This type of hernia causes him pain and limits his mobility. This also prevents him from engaging in physical activities or sports. Additionally, Christian also noticed that the hernia is growing in size, which worries his family. Fortunately, on May 31st, Christian will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. A portion of the cost of Christian's treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. Our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, is raising the remaining $1103 to cover the cost of his surgery and care. Once completed, this procedure will allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Christian shared, "These limitations caused by my condition frustrate me as I long to contribute to my family's financial stability. Through this surgery, I will be physically fit and will have the chance to land a well-paying job and finally be able to support my family. Peninnah is a young girl from Kenya. She is the fourth born in a family of five children. The family is not financially well off. Her father, the breadwinner, makes and sells charcoal. To help provide for the family, her mother does jobs like fetching firewood and laundry for her neighbors. They cannot raise the required amount to pay for the hospital bill. Peninnah has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of her illness, Peninnah has been experiencing fevers and severe headaches since she was three months old. Her parents never managed to get specialized treatment for her until last week when they gathered some funds and took her to one of the hospitals in their home county. She was then referred to our medical partner's care center Bethany Kids where a CT scan was done, and her diagnosis was made. Now she has been scheduled for surgery, and her family is requesting financial support to make her care possible. Without treatment, Peninnah will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $720 to cover the surgery cost. The procedure will drain the excess fluid from Peninnah's brain. This will reduce intracranial pressure and significantly improve her quality of life. Peninnah will develop into a strong, healthy young girl with proper treatment. Peninnah's mother says, "We did not have money for her treatment, but we decided to try again before giving up. I'm grateful that we now know that she can be treated."

Hellen is a nine-year-old girl who is approaching grade one. She is one of nine siblings, three of whom share the same congenital condition of clubfoot. Both of her parents are farmers. They cultivate maize and millet for food and sell the surplus to earn money for other expenses. Unfortunately, Hellen’s father, who is advancing in age and has clubfoot, cannot work extended hours. Therefore, his mother toils diligently on the farm to ensure they yield sufficient harvests. Hellen has clubfoot on her left foot and, fortunately, Hellen's family visited our medical partner's care center, the Plaster House NGO. There, the team began clubfoot treatment on October 6th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $935 to fund Hellen's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will use night casts to aid in her full recovery and later be able to walk comfortably. She did not receive treatment as a baby because of her parents' lack of knowledge about the condition and financial barriers. However, one day, a glimmer of hope emerged when Hellen’s father crossed paths with a young boy who had once faced a similar challenge but had now fully recovered. Filled with renewed hope, he inquired about how this transformation had occurred. The boy’s story revealed the existence of our medical partner's care center to Hellen’s father. Filled with optimism, he hurried home and shared this life-altering discovery with his wife. Together, they decided to bring their precious daughter and three of her siblings to The Plaster House. Hellen’s mother says: “I am glad there is a chance for my daughter to get treatment, I hope she doesn't have to live with this disability for the rest of her life.”
