Seng Toek lives in a rural village in Kampong Cham province, with his wife and two daughters, ages seven and one. At home, he likes to grow local vegetables to support their life together. Recently while collecting coconuts for food, a large one fell on his right shoulder. Despite being unable to use his shoulder or arm after the incident, he did not immediately seek healthcare because he could not afford it. Seng Toek is in constant pain and worried that he cannot support his family if he cannot work. A villager told him about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, where disabled Cambodians can receive healthcare. Seng Toek traveled for three hours to receive help for his shoulder and arm where surgeons told him he has a dislocated shoulder - this is an injury in which the upper arm bone pops out of the cup-shaped socket that's part of the shoulder blade. Seng Toek requires surgery to put the ball of his upper arm back into the socket and needs help to pay for the $485. This will cover all tests, surgery, post-operative care, and rehabilitation for his arm. Seng Toek said: "After surgery, I hope that I can work again and won’t have pain."

Brandon is a 9-year-old student who is an active and social boy in class 4. He likes playing football and socializing with others. He aspires to become a doctor in the future so that he can perform surgeries for children. He is the first born in a family of 3 children. His mother is a housewife, while his father is a businessman. Brandon was born with clubfoot of both feet. He underwent serial casting treatment at a young age, where he wore a series of casts to gradually move the feet to the correct position. The right foot was corrected, but the left foot reverted back to clubfoot. He has been having difficulties walking and playing football, his favorite sport. Fortunately, Brandon and his parents traveled to visit our medical partner African Mission Healthcare (AMH). He has been being treated with serial casting for the left foot again to soften the tissues and is scheduled to undergo a clubfoot repair surgery on August 16th. AMH is requesting $1,286 to fund Brandon's clubfoot repair. The treatment will be impactful because he will be able to walk confidently and play football with his friends. Brandon’s mother shared, “I would love to see my son walking like other children and achieve his dream career of becoming a doctor.”

Catherine is a 27-year-old from Uganda. She is a small business owner operating a retail shop and lives in a rented house where she operates her business. She works hard to earn a living despite having little profit, which sometimes fails to cover her rent. On average, she reports earning about $3 a day. To help supplement this income, her husband also runs a small-scale business selling eggs in a different trading center to support the family. During Catherine's free time, she enjoys watching movies on her phone. As the second-born in a family of eight children, Catherine completed her high school studies and decided to get married. She is currently expecting her second child. She has attended the antenatal clinic at Nyakibale Hospital and her doctors recommend that she deliver via a cesarean section because of her high-risk. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Catherine undergo a C-section on November 14th. AMH is requesting $252 to help fund this procedure. She appeals for support to ensure her pregnancy is delivered safely and that she and her baby remain healthy. Catherine says, "I will be so happy when I deliver my secondborn with your support. I hope to resume my business as I take care of my children."
