John is a devoted farmer and a loving father of three boys. He finds solace and fulfillment in tending to his farm, caring for his sheep and cows. Unfortunately, last year, he suffered a leg injury that affected his mobility, and he now relies on a walker to move around. Thankfully, his wife has been a great support, assisting him with daily tasks since the accident. When our medical partner first encountered John, he had come to the emergency department with a four-day-old fracture. The injury occurred when he bravely confronted a wild animal that had threatened his sheep during the night. However, he slipped on muddy ground during the encounter, resulting in a severe injury to his right leg. Upon closer examination, doctors discovered that John had experienced a previous fracture in the same leg about a year ago, which had never received proper treatment. Despite getting a cast in a nearby health facility, John and his family couldn't afford the transportation to Kapsowar Hospital for treatment by an orthopedic surgeon. Consequently, he endured pain and had limited use of his limb. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH) has skilled surgeons who can offer assistance. On August 2nd, John is scheduled to undergo a fracture repair procedure, known as an open reduction and internal fixation. This intervention will alleviate his pain, allow for proper healing, and restore his ability to work and provide for his family. To support John's journey to recovery, AMH is seeking $1145 to fund the procedure. John says, "I have had problems with my body, and my financial status is very poor. I wish I was well and with energy so that I can do my daily chores. Alisa is two weeks old and the firstborn in her family. She lives with her parents- who are overjoyed to welcome her into the world- in Tanzania, where her father works at Asante Rabi Express, while her mother sells harvested crops at a local shop. Alisa's mother noticed that her left leg appeared different from her right leg. Concerned about this, she sought advice from the doctor at the hospital. The doctor diagnosed Alisa with clubfoot, a very treatable condition. Alisa’s treatment involves a series of casts that will be changed every few weeks. The casts are designed to gradually shift her foot into the correct position. After the casting, she is going to have tenotomy surgery on her left foot, a minor procedure that will release the Achilles tendon. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is seeking $935 to fund Alisa's clubfoot repair surgery, which is scheduled for April 21st at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. As a result of her treatment, Alisa will be able to wear shoes and walk without feeling any discomfort. Alisa’s mother said: “The warm welcome made us feel safe and gave us hope that our daughter will be okay.”

Chorvy is a 19-year-old student from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and her two younger siblings. Her father is a welder, and her mother is a clothing factory worker. Chorvy is taking courses in management at a local university, and when she isn't studying, she likes to read books. Several years ago Chorvy was in a motor vehicle accident, and sustained facial trauma. Since then, she has had headaches, nosebleeds, and nasal congestion on the left side of her nose. Medications purchased from the pharmacy do not alleviate her symptoms. As a student, she cannot afford to pay for a private clinic consultation, but she is finding it increasingly difficult to concentrate or study when she has headaches. She is afraid she might have to drop out of school if she is not able to keep up with her classes. A friend told her about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). Doctors at CSC's care center have diagnosed her with a left deviated septum, and have scheduled her for unilateral endoscopic sinus surgery on August 8th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. After she has recovered, Chorvy should be able to live symptom free. Now she needs your help to fund this $319 procedure. This sum will cover her surgery, medication, and hospital stay. Chorvy said: "I hope the surgery stops my headaches and it will be easy to breathe."
