Ra is a 43-year-old stone seller and construction worker from Cambodia. He has two sons and two daughters. During his free time, he enjoys listening to old Khmer songs and going out with his friends.
In January, Ra was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture of his right femur. He went to a government referral hospital where doctors fixated hardware to heal his fracture. However, the fracture still has not healed. Because of this, he experiences pain and has difficulty walking.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On July 11th, Ra will undergo a hardware removal procedure where surgeons will re-do the nail in his hardware and perform a bone graft procedure to ensure the fracture will heal properly. Now, he needs help to fund this $304 procedure.
Ra says, “I hope I heal soon and can regain function of my leg.”

Ra underwent leg repair surgery so he can heal properly and walk again.
Ra traveled four hours to Children’s Surgical Centre to repair his fractured femur. He was given pain medication and antibiotics for a few days and remained in the hospital until surgeons were confident the bone graft was healing. Although it will take up to two months before his leg will be completely healed, Ra is confident he will walk again soon. Earlier this summer he also had an important repair for his arm, which is healing well so that he can have movement and full use again. This is important for him because he would like to support his four children and provide for their education.
Ra said “I am hopeful I can soon walk again and find a good job in construction to support my children. The hospital staff was wonderful, and I would like to thank the donors who helped to pay for my operation so I can walk and work again.”
