Rayuth loves soccer and fishing, and his favorite subject is math. He hopes to continue his studies and receive a teaching degree. Rayuth lives in Kampong Chhnang province with his parents and three younger siblings. Both of his parents sell vegetables in the local market.
In January 2023, he was in a motorbike accident and fractured his left femur and tibia. He underwent multiple surgeries in the provincial hospital, but his leg was unable to heal, and he had a below-the-knee amputation four weeks later. Since then, he has developed pain and subsequently limited range of motion in his left knee. He and his mother traveled for 3 hours to the Children’s Surgical Centre for consultation.
Rayuth needs to undergo an amputation revision surgery with targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR). This nerve transfer technique aids in reducing pain at the amputation site. Now, his family needs support to fund the $572 procedure and post-op care.
Rayuth shared, “I will be happy not to have pain anymore and start moving on with my life and studies.”
