Siroeung is a 22-year-old mechanic. He shared that his parents passed when he was very young, and now he lives with his sister, who is married with one child. When Siroeung is not repairing cars, he likes to play football, watch movies, and meet friends to listen to music.
In 2018, Siroeung’s motorbike was hit by a car, and he suffered a severe fracture of his left femur. He underwent surgery at a local clinic, where the doctors implanted a plate and screws to stabilize and heal his fractured femur. Now he needs to have the hardware removed.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help him receive treatment. On April 4th, Siroeung will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which, upon recovery, will allow him to return to the activities he enjoyed before he was injured and limit his risk of future infection and pain. CSC is requesting $230 to fund this procedure.
Siroeung says, “When the screws and pins are removed, I hope I will heal quickly and be active again.”

His surgery went well, and he will rest for a few days and take antibiotics to decrease any chance of an infection. Siroeung will also continue his physiotherapy exercises so that he can regain the strength in his leg.
Siroeung shared that he is relieved to be pain-free and looks forward to returning to work and even playing sports with his friends again. He said, “I am glad the metal has been removed from my leg, and I will be healthy again. I am grateful to the hospital staff and to the donors who paid for my care.”
