Roeun is a 41-year-old father of three. He lives in Kampong Thom with his wife, two daughters, and one son. His wife works in a garment factory and Roeun used to work as a tuk-tuk driver before his injury. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching Cambodian boxing on TV. On August 2, 2022, a car crashed into Roeun's tuk-tuk. He lost consciousness and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of an open fracture in his right humerus and left tibia. Unfortunately, the accident had a lasting impact, and since then Roeun has not been able to lift his hand or use his arm, preventing him from working. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his right side, a type of nerve damage that results in loss of function and sensation. Roeun has been afraid to seek further treatment due to costs. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help Roeun. Their care center is the only center in Cambodia where he can receive brachial plexus injury surgery and regain the use of his arm. On June 1st, he will undergo this surgery. Our medical partner is requesting $709 to fund this procedure. Roeun shared: "My one wish is that I can do daily activities like before the accident."

Rose is a 25-year-old woman from Haiti. She lives with her older sister and her family in a small community in southwest Haiti. When Rose was a teenager, one of her heart valves was severely damaged due to an infection. This caused a condition known as rheumatic mitral valve regurgitation, where Rose's heart cannot adequately pump blood through her body, leaving her weak and short of breath. She had to pause her college education due to her condition but hopes to restart school when she is healthy. On July 24th, Rose will undergo cardiac surgery in the United States. During the procedure, surgeons will remove Rose's damaged valve and implant an artificial replacement. Another organization, Baylor Scott and White Heart Hospital, is contributing $20,000 to pay for Rose's surgery. Rose's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep and follow-up. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, checkup, and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Rose's family overseas. Rose shared with us: "I am so happy to be able to have this surgery so that I can start living more normally and thinking about my future!"

Catherine is a smallbusiness woman and mother of four. She pursued a diploma in business administration, but unfortunately, she has been unable to secure a job in her field. As a result, she operates a small retail shop to earn a living. However, due to its remote location in the village and limited capital invested, her income from the shop is limited. To supplement her earnings, she engages in farming. Her husband is involved in the bodaboda (moto-taxi) business and together they reside in a two-room rental house. While they can manage their daily expenses with their combined income, they cannot gather the necessary funds for the surgery that Catherine needs. Catherine is currently expecting a new baby. Because her pregnancy is high risk and she previously lost another baby to miscarriage, her doctors recommend that she deliver via a cesarean section. This recommendation aims to prevent complications such as uterine rupture, which could be life-threatening. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Catherine undergo a C-Section on July 11th. This procedure will cost $252, and Catherine needs your support. Catherine says, “I am looking forward to a successful delivery, if I am given your support, because I am worried about my hospital bill.”
