Sorn is a 49-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives in Takeo province with his wife, son, and daughter. His wife is a seamstress at a local clothes factory, his son is a construction worker, and his daughter manages the house and cooks for the family. In his free time, Sorn likes to fish or find crabs in the rice fields. In early July, Sorn was on his motorbike when he collided with a small truck. He fractured both his right tibia and his right ulna. Sorn had surgery at a local government hospital but his leg incision site has become infected. He experiences pain, swelling, and discharge from the wound. Sorn is currently unable to walk and cannot work. When Sorn learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 19th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to remove the damaged and infected tissue from Sorn's wound. Now, Sorn needs help to fund this $324 procedure. Sorn said, "after surgery, I hope my leg will heal and I will walk normally again."

Baraka is a 15-year-old boy who is in fifth grade, and resides with his uncle in Arusha. Seven of Baraka's ten siblings have passed away, as has his mother, after a prolonged bout of ill health. Baraka's father lives in a different region of the country, and has entrusted his care to the uncle, who has six children of his own. When Baraka was a young child, he fell onto a lighted stack of firewood while playing. He sustained severe burns - which were successfully treated - but which have left him with residual scar contractures around his mouth, and on and under his arm. Baraka lived with these contractures for a long time, until he met a neighbor, who told Baraka and his uncle about Plaster House. Baraka's uncle was unable to bring Baraka to Plaster House, so their neighbor, Charles, undertook to do so. Baraka is looking forward to treatment, as the contractures have negatively affected his confidence when he is interacting with other people. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Baraka receive the care that he needs. On August 16th, surgeons will perform burn contracture release surgery, which will enable Baraka to have improved mobility, functionality and appearance. Now, he needs your help to fund this $874 procedure. Baraka says: “I desire an improvement in my facial appearance. Right now, I lack confidence in how I look. I hold the hope that this treatment will bring about a substantial transformation in my appearance.”

Keat is a retired rice farmer who lives in Takeo province with his wife. Their daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren live nearby and visit them often. His daughter helps support Keat and his wife by working in a garment factory. His favorite activities are spending time with his grandchildren and gardening around his house. Approximately 3.5 years ago, Keat became aware of a mass developing on his left hand. Although he sought some treatment at a local clinic, the mass has continued growing, causing him discomfort. Keat experiences pain and is concerned about the possibility of the mass expanding further. Keat traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On June 28th, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Now, Keat needs help to raise $273 to fund this procedure. Keat hopes to return home without discomfort, end his worrying, and help take care of his grandchildren.
