Madelyn is a loving wife and grandmother from the Philippines. She currently lives with her husband and five-year-old grandchild. Ten years ago, Madelyn discovered a lump on her breasts. She had it examined by a healthcare professional and was informed that it appeared to be a fluid-like cyst with a chance to be resolved on its own. Unaware of the potential severity of her condition, she opted to discontinue follow-up checkups. As the years passed, she experienced intermittent, yet tolerable pain. This past March, the pain intensified significantly, accompanied by a palpable mass. These changes alarmed Madelyn to seek medical attention once again. She underwent a thorough assessment and diagnostic tests and was ultimately diagnosed with breast cancer. Without treatment, the cancer may spread to other organs. A mastectomy, a surgery to remove breast tissue, has been suggested to rid her body of breast cancer and to prevent the cancer from metastasizing. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Madelyn receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a mastectomy on May 31st at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. A portion of the cost of her treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is raising $1058 to cover the remaining cost. After treatment, Madelyn will hopefully return to a cancer-free life. "We are just relying on my husband's income as a driver, which is barely enough to sustain our needs. On our own, we will not be able to afford my needed treatment", Madelyn shared. "I'll be eternally grateful to Watsi and World Surgical Foundation Philippines for helping me!"

Keneth is a gentle and social small-business owner. He is also a responsible father, caring for his four children currently studying in primary and secondary schools. Keneth completed primary school but unfortunately could not continue his education due to a lack of funds. To provide for his family and secure school fees for his children, he operates a small business baking chapatis, his primary income source. His wife works as a farmer, contributing to their household's livelihood. Additionally, he shared that he is an avid Arsenal fan, although he was left disappointed when the team failed to win a trophy. Watching football (soccer) matches has become one of his favorite hobbies! Keneth developed a swelling on his left thigh that has persisted for over a year. The swelling has grown in size, and causes him discomfort, including sensations of pins & needles, temporary paralysis, and severe pain when walking. Initially, he was concerned that it might be cancer. Seeking medical advice, he underwent a biopsy, but fortunately, the results came back negative for cancer. The surgeon diagnosed him with myxoid liposarcoma and recommended excision treatment. Keneth traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On July 4th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Keneth needs help to raise $137 to fund this procedure. Keneth says, “I will be happy seeing my leg back to normal once I am operated on, and I expect a full recovery.”

Jackline is a 30-year-old devoted mother from Uganda. She completed her education through high school and now works as a small-scale farmer. Her husband works as a teacher in a private school, and to supplement their income, they sell some of their farm produce. Jackline has two children who she loves dearly. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family Jackline is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors have recommended that she deliver via a Caesarean section due to scars from her previous deliveries. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Jackline undergo a C-section on August 1st, at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale. This procedure will cost $252, and is the best way for the doctors to ensure the safety of both Jackline and the baby. Now Jackline and her family need your help to raise the money to fund this procedure. Jackline says: “I have always faced challenges to be discharged in all my past surgical deliveries. I came in to ask for support this time to ensure the success of my delivery.”
